Working with clay is the most fabulous journey.
No two potter’s route will be the same.
My love of clay started whilst studying decorative art at Nottingham Trent University.
I specialised in ceramics in my third year and the ideas I played around with then are still present in my work today.
I love working with geometric shapes and repeat patterns. I am also heavily influenced by the beautiful Scottish Borders landscape and colour and texture feature prominently in my work.
Recently I have begun working with images of birds, incorporating them into hanging tile designs. These have background details created with old lace.
I have been working with clay for a number of years now; in fact Samieston Ceramics was established in 2002. During this time my work has evolved and hopeful will continue to do so.
I work to a wide range of scales, from the smallest hanging decoration to large scale commissions.
